Freshening up an old song: lyrics for ‘June Apple’ from school students

In the resources kit created by Musica Viva in Schools for our touring show, students are encouraged to try writing new lyrics to a very old Appalachian song called ‘June Apple’.

We’ve then had the pleasure of performing the song with the new lyrics—sometimes Dr Ed (bass) sings them; and sometimes students come up and join us to sing theirs, which we love.

In this part of the website we’re planning on sharing as many of these new lyrics as we can—it just goes to show how music (and lyrics) can be endlessly renewed over time. Thanks to all the students who wrote lyrics or just came along and enjoyed the music—we love being guests at your schools.
